Four-star TE plans return trip to FSU
Who said summer was a time for relaxation? Certainly not for Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) tight end Christo Kourtzidis. He has a busy month of June planned. One of the events on his calendar is a second visit to Tallahassee for Jimbo Fisher's football camp.
"Yes sir, I will be visiting FSU again on June 20-23," Kourtzidis confirmed." I'm really looking forward to it since I felt so comfortable on my last trip there."
His last trip was three days long, which included attending the Garnet and Gold spring game, touring the campus, and talking with the coaches. This time around, Kourtzidis says this visit will be a chance to see if he gets the same vibe on the second time around.
"My focus on this upcoming visit will be give me an opportunity to meet with the coaches again, but get a feeling it's like in Tallahassee, as well as how comfortable I feel on campus and with the players," he said. "I've already seen the campus, so this time my focus is all about the coaches and players for the most part. This visit is just about reaffirming my initial feelings about FSU."
During his visit last spring, Lourtzidis got a chance to check out the Seminoles' offense. What impressed him more than anything was FSU's coaching staff.
"I really like the Florida State coaching staff. I like the direction in where the program is heading with Coach Fisher and the rest of the staff," Kourtzidis explained. "It's clear they have the tight end very involved in what they want to do. Their offense is pretty similar to what we run at my high school. Coach Coley is the offensive coordinator and the tight ends coach, not to mention they brought in the No. 1 rated TE in the country last year in Nick O'Leary, so it shows me the importance of that position in their program."
What kind of relationship has Kourtzidis established with the 'Noles' offensive coordinator?
"The main thing with Coach Coley is he's a personable guy that you can talk for hours with. We talk about a lot of stuff, but lately I've been giving him a hard time about the Miami Heat because that's his team and I'm a Los Angeles Lakers fan," joked Kourtzidis. "We also talk about the guys they currently have there at Florida State and what their situation is with the tight end position. He's a coach that is very easy to click with because he's a likable guy."
Tallahassee won't be Kourtzidis' only stop this summer. He plans to make two other visits - one to Alabama on June 11, then to Nebraska on the 14. In addition to those visits, Kourtizidis also informed Warchant.com that he has also added three new offers.
"My most recent offers are from Alabama, Oklahoma, and California. The Caifornia offer was nice because that was in-state," noted Kourzidis. "The other two offers were from big time programs, so it was really great picking up those offers."
