Florida RB looking at Purdue
Purdue offered Florida's Roshard Burney only a month ago, but that hasn't stopped the Boilermakers from shooting toward the top of the running back's list.
The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder has eight offers, including from Illinois, Cincinnati and Rutgers, among others. But Purdue, although it's the latest to extend an invitation, has Burney's attention.
"They've told me they really like me," he said. "I could fit in their system and they want me to be a Boilermaker. They just don't want me to forget about them. I've got them up on my list, so I haven't forgot about them."
Burney, though, admits he's not familiar with Purdue, having not visited the school. But thanks to recruiter Cornell Jackson and his own Internet research, he's catching up.
"I went on their website, where you can learn about the school, their facilities, all of that," Burney said. "It's pretty nice.
"They're a school I'm really interested in."
Burney, who has visited Florida Atlantic for a camp, says he's looking forward to taking officials in the fall. Palm Beach Gardens has a bye in Week 2, which might provide an open weekend for Burney.
"There's some schools that I know I want to go to," he said. "For official visits, I might go to Illinois, Purdue, Cincinnati, Rutgers and somewhere else, but I really don't know yet."
Burney says he'd like to make a decision before the end of his season - last year, he rushed for 805 yards on 130 carries with 10 touchdowns - so he doesn't go into the winter without his choose made.
"(My final decision) just depends," he said. "Whatever school is recruiting me the hardest and showing the most interest."
