Mead's Sooner Offer Something of a Surprise to Himself
Though he already held a Clemson offer few players arrived to Oklahoma's loaded junior day with less known about them than wide receiver Jeffery Mead. Though that lack of notoriety is somewhat surprising considering not only the offer but also the reality that the 6-foot-6, 175-pound prospect is from one of the elite programs in the state, if not nation, he was clearly well known by the Oklahoma coaching staff.
That's because on Saturday during Oklahoma's first junior day Oklahoma even 'somewhat' surprised Mead by making him another in-state offer in the Sooner State's talented class of 2014.
"Yes sir they offered. I went into Bob Stoops office and they let me know that they wanted to offer me," Mead recalled. "It kind of surprised me, my coach (Kirk Fridrich) talked to me about them, I kind of had an idea. I didn't think I was going to get an offer, I mean I knew they liked me but I didn't think they would get me an offer today."
