Sooners Back in East Texas?
When you look through Oklahoma's football history it's impossible to ignore East Texas's presence. Be it Hooks, Texas legend Billy Sims' Heisman trophy or Adrian Peterson's historic freshman season and NFL career no matter what Sooner team you look at there is almost undoubtedly an East Texas making an impact.
However, for whatever reason in recent years the Sooners presence in the region had diminished greatly. In fact on the Sooners 2012 team only one East Texan was a day in and day out starter - Lufkin product Jamarkus McFarland who, coincidentally was the Sooners last major steal in the region in the class of 2009.
In steps Sooners co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach Jay Norvell and the Sooners are suddenly very present again and coincidentally Norvell is now in pursuit of perhaps the next great East Texas prep defensive tackle, Gladewater's Daylon Mack.
