Tide lands 2008 star
It didn't take long for Nick Saban and staff to impact the 2007 Alabama signing class and the fast pace continued with one of the top 2008 prospects committing to Alabama on Friday. Pickens County standout Michael Williams, 6-foot-5, 240-pounds, chose the Tide despite interest from several colleges early and he is considered one of the South's top players for his class.
"I committed to Alabama today. I called Coach Saban before I left school and told him. He was excited and welcomed me on board. He told me they were going to do great things this year," Williams said. "It has been my dream to play for Alabama and when Coach Saban offered me I knew that there was a good chance I would go there. I just talked to my family and coaches and decided there was really no reason not to go ahead. I had interest from a lot of other schools but they weren't going to be better fits for me than Alabama.
