Every season there is a team that will claim themselves as the team that is going to bring the Gold Ball back to the west side of Oklahoma.
Not often does it happen. Jenks and Union have claimed the last 17 6A state championships.
Quietly Westmoore (5-0, 2-0) is making that bid in 2013. Friday night Billy Langford's squad dismantled Muskogee 48-7.
SCOOPHD: 2015 WESTMOORE (OKLA.) WR DAHU GREEN
Even more quietly has been the production of junior wide receiver Dahu Green.
Joining the Jaguar program this season after moving to Oklahoma from California last fall the 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect continues to make quite the name for himself on the biggest stage of Oklahoma high school football.
In two weeks Green and his Westmoore teammates will have the opportunity to send an early message to the west side of the state when they host No. 1 ranked Jenks.
"We had a lot of penalties that took away a lot of yards. A lot of those penalties also killed good drives," said Green after finding the endzone twice on five receptions for 93 yards.
"If we get those down and make our blocks we'll be fine."
What should also be fine is Green's status in the recruiting world.
With a knack to make the tough play look easy the 2015 SoonerState Watchlist member says he's taking the recruiting process in stride.
"I mean I have God given talent of course but I've put in a lot of hard work. A lot of effort and there's been a lot of jump balls in practice and stuff like that. That you work on and it makes you better," said Green.
"If I get to play in a big stadium or a big stage with a nice facility I'm there."
