    QUARTERBACK
    Position Coach: Josh Heupel
    Offers: 1
    Uncommitted: 1
    Rivals100 Targets: 0
    State of Focus: Oklahoma

    2014 Returnees: 3

    Predicted No. of Signees: 1

    Commitments: N/A

    Current Status: Solid

    Top Target: Justice Hansen

    All Targets

The Skinny: Oklahoma is keeping up with their annual rite of passage - one quarterback per class. So far they are on the right track with just one player offered though several other targets have emerged at various points. It's a historic year for quarterbacks in Oklahoma so if things don't go as Josh Heupel hopes with Hansen there are plenty of quality options like David Cornwell and Coleman Key or they could look beyond state lines at a player like Foster Sawyer. Whatever happens with Hansen it will be resolved before April is over.

    RUNNING BACK
    Position Coach: Cale Gundy
    Offers: 7
    Uncommitted: 4
    Rivals100 Targets: 2
    State of Focus: Texas

    2014 Returnees: 5

    Predicted No. of Signees: 3

    Commitments: 1

    Current Status: Strong

    Top Target: Nathan Starks

    All Targets

The Skinny: This position isn't just about running backs, where we're currently anticipating Oklahoma's number to hit two but also includes Oklahoma's glaring need at fullback. While it's well known that Trey Millard will head to the NFL next season it's not quite as well known that Aaron Ripkowski is now on scholarship and will return. However, he'll be a senior in 2014 and then the Sooners will be completely without a fullback. It's possible the Sooners could sign two fullbacks in this class but it's almost undoubted they'll sign one. Though the answer isn't known at fullback, at running back Starks is the current favorite to join commitment Samaje Perine.

    WIDE RECEIVER
    Position Coach: Jay Norvell

    Current Status: Strong

    Top Target: KD Cannon

    All Targets

The Skinny: With the news that Oklahoma is getting serious with Dallis Todd and the decommitment Armanti Foreman things have taken a massive change in Oklahoma's 2014 receiver recruiting. The good news is that Oklahoma is in good shape not only with Todd but in-state emerging star Jeffery Mead as well as talented Texans Nick Alexander and Dorian Leonard. There is a long way to go but Oklahoma figures to battle it out from beginning to end withs ome top shelf receivers, including Rivals100 member KD Cannon.

    Current Status: Urgent

    Top Target: Dalton Schultz

    All Targets

The Skinny: What direction is Oklahoma going to go at tight end in 2014? There is definitely some thought that the Sooners are going to try and become a more physical team which could lend itself to players like Koda Martin, and even currently unoffered Logan Lister. However with offers out to a player like Schultz and attention being paid to similar receiving tight ends it figures to be a bit of both for Oklahoma in the 2014 class.

    OFFENSIVE TACKLE
    Position Coach: Bill Bedenbaugh
    Offers: 21
    Uncommitted: 14
    Rivals100 Targets: 10

    2014 Returnees: 5

    Predicted No. of Signees: 4

    Commitments: N/A

    Current Status: Urgent

    Top Target: Braden Smith

    All Targets

The Skinny: Prior to the arrival of Bill Bedenbaugh Oklahoma was short on possibilities but now the Sooners are in on the race for tons of nationally elite prospects. They've long been invovled with Smith but no one is quite sure where the extremely quiet big man from Olathe, Kan. stands with the new Sooner assistant, or anyone else for that matter. Don't be surprised to see a JUCO or two as part of this class but Oklahoma needs some talented youth at offensive tackle in a big way. A name to keep an eye on is Dallas Bishop Dunne standout Jovan Pruitt, who seems to have taken a shine to the Sooners as of late.

    INTERIOR OFFENSIVE LINE
    Position Coach: Bill Bedenbaugh
    Offers: 6
    Uncommitted: 5
    Rivals100 Targets: 0
    State of Focus: Texas

    2014 Returnees: 5

    Predicted No. of Signees: 2

    Commitments: N/A

    Current Status: Stable

    Top Target: Natrell Curtis

    All Targets

The Skinny: There is no clear picture as to just how strongly Oklahoma's sees it's needs here but after signing just one player last year - and that player being a junior college prospect - it seems fairly unlikely that any less than two would be the answer. However, with aa solid base of youth players it shouldn't need to go far beyond that. the question of who Oklahoma will find to fill the spots is still a bit in doubt as most of their current offers are possible, but only Alex Dalton a seemingly strong chance at this point in time.

    DEFENSIVE END
    Position Coach: Jerry Montgomery
    Offers: 9
    Uncommitted: 9
    Rivals100 Targets: 6
    State of Focus: Texas

    2014 Returnees: 10

    Predicted No. of Signees: 2

    Commitments: N/A

    Current Status: Stable

    Top Target: Solomon Thomas

    All Targets

The Skinny: Oklahoma's defensive end group in the class of 2013 probably won't get it's due for some time, but the group has talent and as much as anything buys some time for Montgomery to really pick out guys and try to identify his top targets. Without question those at the top of the board are Dallas area products Thomas and Myles Garrett, local standout Deondre Clark and Montgomery's long-time close recruit Andrew Williams. Oklahoma can identify top players nationally and be patient with many of them, but are they going to take a shine to some lighter framed guys to play stand up defensive ends, like perhaps Lawrence Marshall?

    Predicted No. of Signees: 3

    Commitments: N/A

    Current Status: Unstable

    Top Target: Courtney Garnett

    All Targets

The Skinny: Unlike defensive end, Oklahoma is in need of not only quality but quantity in the 2014 class. That's not to say the 2013 group is without serious potential but each of the three high school defensive tackle signees has real questions in one aspect or another. The other problem is the reality that unlike defensive end it's not a great year regionally for defensive tackles - in fact it's almost historically bad. That said, Montgomery is going to need to pull a few rabbits out of his hat and Garnett would be a solid start for Oklahoma to get one talented player in the class and begin building from there.

    LINEBACKER

    Commitments: N/A

    Current Status: Urgent

    Top Target: Gyasi Akem

    All Targets

The Skinny: Aside from offensive line there is no greater need in this class than at linebacker as the Sooners currently have a shockingly low number of bodies at the position. With that in mind Oklahoma has been aggressive with their early offers and is starting to make headway with several prospects who could be interesting fits for Oklahoma. Many have given Oklahoma no chance for Akem but after a strong visit to Norman for their March 10 junior day one can't quite write the Sooners off so easily anymore. Others like Christian Sam seem to be leaning Oklahoma's way. However, is Oklahoma ready to win a battle against an elite opponent?

    DEFENSIVE BACK
    Position Coach: Mike Stoops

    Uncommitted: 16
    Rivals100 Targets: 5

    2014 Returnees: 10

    Predicted No. of Signees: 4

    Commitments: 1

    Current Status: Unstable

    Top Target: Michiah Quick

    All Targets

The Skinny: Last year's defensive back class, both nationally and with those Oklahoma signed, was a very strong group. However, the class of 2014 has a chance to be even more special in both regards. In-state Oklahoma has zeroed in and let Jenks star Steven Parker know what a priority he is and nationally players like Quick, who will visit Norman this summer, are high on Oklahoma and seem very intersted in seeing what they can find. Quick, of course, is also the former teammate of two of those 2013 signees - Hatari Byrd and L.J. Moore.

    COMMITMENTS:

    Three-Star: Vonte McQuinnie

NOTE: This is not Oklahoma's actual board, it is merely an educated opinion on the comings and goings of Oklahoma's recruiting.
