I enjoyed your post about Thomas. This spring leading up to Easter our pastor was doing a series that included Thomas. About halfway through that mornings' sermon he introduced the pastor of the local Christian church, a man born in Southern India. He gets up and tells the story of the Christian community he grew up in, that can trace its linage all the way back to its founding, by Thomas.

I sat there slack jawed. I still have a hard time getting my head around the fact that you could go back generation by generation until you got to a disciple. To a man who walked and talked and ministered alongside Christ. It pretty much leaves me speechless.

Well, I'm not a big fan of Hillary at all, but I think it might serve Obama well having Clinton serving "at the pleasure of the president" as opposed to blocking his efforts in congress and trying to pick fights that drag his administration hopelessly to the left.

If she works for him, it's easier to control her, and she seems an effective administrator. I question why she would want the post, honestly, and I'd much prefer to see Hagel get that job, but I think she is hard nosed enough to sit down with foreign leaders and deliver the message her president wants to be conveyed. I also think she'd run the state department well, and I'd be happy to see that she won't be in a real policy-making role. The AG and the Treasury secretary create more policy, while it seems the state department is an executor of foreign policy pushed down from the president.

I think a foreign policy advisory group of James Jones, Chuck Hagel, Hillary Clinton, and Robert Gates would make me feel like Obama is hearing from all different sides of the argument, and hearing from bright people.

So while I think there are better choices, I think tactically, this could be a good move for Obama to break down the gridlock in the Senate...simply by removing Clinton from the equation, you have a better chance of reaching out to senate republicans. It's the same, smart reasoning that had Obama reaching out to Joe Lieberprick...

...and it's a far sight better choice than John Kerry would be. Yuck.

SiKs...I like your article and agree with most of it. As for your curiosity about a potential Obama cabinet & senior staff...

Obviously, Rahm Emmanuel has been named Chief of Staff, a pick I love and most republicans fear. He's the perfect legislative pragmatist bad cop to Obama's inspirational good cop. Pete Rouse is his deputy.

Robert Gibbs is press secretary.

Expect Tom Daschle to be somewhere in the administration (he was second choice for COS). I would assume that David Plouffe will be senior staff in the administration (probably chief strategist) if he wants it.

Chuck Hagel is being strongly considered for Secy of State or Secy of Defense. James Jones is a real candidate for National Security Advisor. Caroline Kennedy looks likely for UN Ambassador. Eric Holder is odds-on for AG, and I wouldn't bet against Tim Geithner for Treasury, with Laura Tyson as his deputy.

I think Howard Dean might get HHS. Tom Vilsack is a popular name for Agriculture, Richardson could get handed interior.

A lot of the names being thrown around are on the more conventional side. I would expect Obama to reach outside of Clinton administration veterans and sitting members of government to fill many roles. Those names haven't emerged yet, and won't for a while probably. Ray Kelly might be such an example for Homeland Security.

Hope this quenches your thirst for some names to think about...

...oh, I almost forgot... David Boren is under serious consideration for Secy of Education.

Hey SIKS when I was a kid Merle came over to our house all the time. He played some local gigs at a place called the DelMar bar in Chico, Ca with my two uncles Ted and Fred. LOL Anyway he was always a great guy and told us great stories.

I graduated from OU in '96. While at OU I was an equipment manager for the men's basketball team. Got to work for Billy Tubbs and Kelvin Sampson for 2 years a piece. I love all Sooner athletics, especially OU football. I've lived in Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado, but currently live in Whitewater, KS. I've had the following jobs: accountant, farmer, rancher, GIS Specialist, network administrator, bank teller, music reviewer to name a few. I love to listen to new music, mostly Texas/Red Dirt/Americana type. A few of my favorites are REK, Chris Knight, Reckless Kelly, Scott Miller, Lucero, Junior Brown, Lyle Lovett, BR-549, Buck Owens, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Rodgers, Roy Clark, Kasey Chambers, Doc Marshalls, Billy Joe Shaver, Bottle Rockets, Macon Grayson, Max Stalling, Chris Isaak, The Dillards, Gram Parsons and of course Hank Williams... to name just a few. BOOMER SOONER!

Make sure to read my highly profesional and well thought out music reviews.
