Cats win to take third in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - So much for taking in the sun or the scenery at a Caribbean beach. While other participating teams engaged in light workouts and saw the island's sights during Saturday's "off day" at the Puerto Rico Tip-off, Kansas State players received the gift of what Frank Martin called an "intense and highly competitive" practice. Judging by Sunday's 83-75, third-place-clinching win over No. 18 Dayton, the extra time spent on the court paid off. No, the performance wasn't perfect, but as the head coach pointed out afterward, Sunday's victory was no small accomplishment.
