Wild Thursday Night: OSU, KSU face off

One game down, three more to go.

If Oklahoma State wants the Big 12 Tournament title, they still have a ways to go. After the Bedlam blasting of Oklahoma last night, the Cowboys advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament, drawing No. 2 seed Kansas State tonight at 6:30. The game will be televised by your local Big 12 affiliate.

In last night's win over the Sooners, OSU jumped out to an 18-point lead in the first six minutes of the game. Leading the way was Keiton Page, who scored 19 points in the first half. He finished with 24 on the night. He led the way on the scoreboard for the Pokes, as Obi Muonelo was next with 15 and James Anderson took it easy and posted 11. It was a game that was never really in doubt, as the Sooners never led and OSU boasted a 24-point lead just before halftime.

"I don't want to say the first game is always the toughest because now we have to play Kansas State," coach Travis Ford said. "But it's good to get the first one out of the way."

But now the attention shifts to, as Ford said, Kansas State, a team that comes into the tournament going in reverse. Overall, the Wildcats have had a nice season, but they closed things out poorly. They were thrashed by Sunflower State rival Kansas (82-65) and were shocked by Iowa State (85-82, OT) to close the regular season. So just how will the Wildcats come into this weekend mentally? OSU already beat them once this season - will that just add on to the bad snap at the end of the year? If you'll remember, the Cowboys went into the Octagon of Doom in the Little Apple and beat then-No. 10 KSU, 73-69, with Anderson going off for 30 points. That has to stick in their heads a bit.

Even so, the Wildcats are a fierce bunch. Jacob Pullen has been a force for them this season, averaging 18.9 points per game. They didn't lose three games in a season at all, so they will be on the lookout to avoid that dubious honor tonight.
