Lewis drawing interest from all over the country
Muskegon (Mich.) junior running back Juwan Lewis has already drawn a tremendous amount of interest from schools around the country. Lewis, who is 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 200 pounds has received letters from schools in the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Pac-10 (Soon to be Pac-12), and the MAC, as well as a couple of the service academies.
Although he is aware of the letters and potential offers, he actually doesn't know which schools have offered him at this point because he is letting his parents handle a lot of his recruitment.
"I still have another year and I need to stay focused on school. I need to keep the important things first. My father is one of my coaches, so that's been a big help in letting my parents handle my recruitment."
Lewis went on to list his top five schools as far as his interest is concerned and said he has talked to the recruiting coordinators and the position coaches at all of these schools: Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse, Northwestern, Alabama
The Muskegon native added that the main things he is looking for in a school are a major that he would like to study, along with hands-on teaching and a successful football program.
Lewis has already taken unofficial visits to Michigan and Ohio State and is taking a Junior Day visit to Michigan State this Sunday, and he added that he is hoping to take a lot more visits this summer and next fall. Central Michigan invited him to their Junior Day, but he couldn't make because he was at the Michigan Showcase.
Lewis said that he would like to make a verbal commitment sometime this summer or early in the fall at the latest.
"My parents and I have talked about it. The best time to commit is in the summertime or at least before the season, so that it doesn't distract from the season. It would take some pressure off me. We want to do it early so we can get it out of the way."
