Five lead for DE Hilliard
Myles Hilliard has more than a dozen scholarship offers and now he's saying that five schools are standing out above the rest of the field.
At 6-foot-6 and 242-pounds, Hilliard is one of Ohio's top defensive line prospects. He's poised for a huge senior season at Bedford and coaches are taking notice. In all, 14 schools have verbally offered Hilliard.
Thus far he has visited West Virginia, Michigan State, Akron and Toledo of the schools that have offered.
"I'm actually going to Pitt this Saturday," Hilliard said on Tuesday evening. "That will be for a camp. They don't really want me to participate but I'm going to anyway."
In addition to the schools that have offered, such as Pitt, Hilliard said Michigan and NC State are showing interest and hinting that offers could come later.
"Michigan wants me to come down down to their camp because they're all new there and they're recruiting a lot of defensive guys. They wanted me to come down to camp and see how I move. They said if I move well then I might get an offer.
"North Carolina State said they're going to call me this week, so hopefully that wcall will be the offer," he explained.
Hilliard admits that five schools are standing out and he spoke about what he likes about each of those schools.
"At this point my top five is Michigan State, Pitt, West Virginia, Syracuse and actually Toledo," he said.
"I just like Michigan State's style of defense. They said they're going to play a 4-3 this year and a 3-3 stack, so I would probably in the three technique or the five or six.
"I like Pittsburgh's defense, too, because they like to stunt and do a lot of tricky stuff. I like that a lot.
"West Virginia seems like a fast team and it seems like I could do well there. They like the 3-3-5 and they'll stunt with their 'backers down and they'll bring their safeties down to blitz.
"I don't know as much about Syracuse but going off what I do know it's a great school with a nice campus. Their physical therapy program is excellent.
"As for Toledo, I've been down there. I've been to two camps there. The defensive line coach seems like a great guy," he concluded.
Hilliard said he hopes to make a decision by September, around the start of his senior season at Bedford.
