Patterson ready to give Ole Miss a look

Cordarrelle Patterson admits that he doesn't know much about Ole Miss.

However, the four-star wide receiver from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College knows enough about the Rebels to want to visit them officially this weekend.

Patterson, who has already visited Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee, will arrive in Oxford Friday and return home Sunday. He will likely be one of only two official visitors on campus during that time.

"I don't know that much about them," Patterson said Tuesday night. "They have new coaches. They have two good quarterbacks that are going to be there next year. I like them because they're in the SEC.

"They told me I could come help the offense. They said I'm real fast. They told me some things (new Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze) did at Arkansas State. I just want to see what kind of offense they have, the quarterbacks they have and see if they can get me the ball."

Patterson, a 6-foot-4, 205-pounder who was ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 4 junior college prospect in the preseason, said he's considering the three schools he has already visited, Ole Miss, Baylor and "some other schools that are coming in right now. It's going to come down to where I can be more comfortable, where I can play immediately."

Patterson said Ole Miss recent struggles, including a winless Southeastern Conference campaign that led to a coaching change, won't negatively impact his decision.

"I don't look at it like that," Patterson said. "The program has changed around. I know they're recruiting a lot of good players. I don't look at it like that. … They're like any other school. It's about how they can use me."

Patterson said he's not sure what school will get his fifth and final official visit later this month.

"Nobody's ahead right now," Patterson said. "I'm wide open still."
