Recruiting roundup

Tucker outside linebacker/defensive end Josh Dawson has been a popular name of late.

Georgia hosted him for his official visit last weekend, and he came away impressed with the Bulldogs.

The only hang up is that Dawson is committed to Vanderbilt. The star pass rusher visited the Commodores this weekend, and came away undecided about his plans for the future.

"The visit to Vanderbilt went pretty good. I have UGA and Vanderbilt tied at the top still," said Dawson. "I'm going to decide on Signing Day."

Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin has his in home visit with Dawson on Tuesday, and Georgia head coach Mark Richt will visit Dawson on Thursday.

Possible last minute offer

Lanier County outside linebacker/defensive end Junior Gnonkonde was Georgia Tech's first 2012 commitment, but the Jackets parted ways with him due to academic reasons.

Gnonkonde, who is an exchange student from the Ivory Coast, is now trying to figure out his next step according to his legal guardian and Lanier County Athletic Director, John White.

"Junior is just trying to go somewhere to play football," said White. "That is all he wants to do. He just wants to play football and get a good education."

Georgia has recently checked in on the three-star prospect, and the Bulldogs made sure that Gnonkonde knows where they stand.

"They told us it would depend on who went where and how much room they have," said White. "They have shown a little interest, and they have always shown interest, so we will just have to see how it plays out."

Williams shuts it down

Sandy Creek wide receiver JaQuay Williams made his official visit to the Classic City this weekend, but since his visit has gone completely silent.

According to Williams friend, teammate, and 2013 recruit, Shaqille Wiggins, the Williams camp has completely shut it down.

"His uncle told him that he doesn't want them to talk about the visit to UGA," said Wiggins.

UGASports spoke with sources on Friday night that said Williams was having a great team and was "already confused" about where he stands in his recruitment.
