The defensive line is an area of emphasis for the Georgia coaching staff in 2013.
Mill Creek's Kelsey Griffin received the first UGA offer for a defensive lineman in the 2013 class, and the Georgia coaches further emphasized their interest in a visit to Griffin last week.
"Georgia came by with Coach (Bryan) McClendon, Coach (Todd) Grantham, and Coach (Mark) Richt," said Griffin. "It was a brief visit because they know that I know them well, so they just dropped in and we talked about stuff. It was good to hear from them.
While the 2012 class is drawing to a close and Richt is a busy man, Griffin greatly appreciated the visit from Georgia's head man.
"It was great to have Coach Richt come to my school to see me," he said. "I mean, he is the Head Coach, so it was just cool to see him come by."
Grantham also made an impression on the 2013 prospect.
"He is a good coordinator," said Griffin. "He really knows his stuff. They haven't told me exactly where they want me to play yet. It will just be on the defensive line."
Griffin currently holds offers from Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina, Auburn, and Georgia Tech, and all of those schools are currently atop his list.
"No school really stands out right now," said Griffin. "I like Georgia, and they are up there with the other teams as far as the teams I like."
With his senior year around the corner, Griffin is focused on his last season of high school football and preparing to go to the next level at the same time.
"Right now we are working out during the day and again in the afternoons," said Griffin. We are going almost every day of the week and just working hard to be better for next year. I'm just trying to be a better player."
