Ward signs with Deacs

Deland (Fla.) cornerback James Ward signed with Wake Forest at 9:04 AM today, Feb. 1.

Rivals.com rates the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Ward as a three-star recruit.

He committed to Wake Forest Dec. 16.

"I chose Wake, because I think it is a good fit for me," Ward said in a prior interview with Rivals.com's Chris Nee. "It is a place I can call home for the next four years,". "I like the coaching staff, the ones I have met. It is a nice spot. They don't have too many students and it is a really good education. It seems like a real good place to be."

Deland finished with a 10-2 record, and made a second-round appearance in the state playoffs.

Ward is known for his play-making ability from the cornerback position.
