The 2013 class in the state of Ohio is loaded with defensive backs. On Sunday afternoon, the Buckeyes hosted several of the top DB's in the state, including Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney safety Marcus McWilson. The 6-foot, 195-pound prospect is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he helped lead the Cardinals to a state championship. While no offer was extended, McWilson was made aware that he sits high on Ohio State's board.

"They want me to stop by for some spring practices and for camp and stuff," said McWilson. "(Coach Everett Withers) said it's kind of difficult for him to offer me because safety is hard (to evaluate on film) because there are only so many plays that we're in on. He said they want to see safeties in person (at camp) just to see what they can do and everything."

McWilson got a tour of the campus and the football facilities on Sunday and came away impressed with what he saw.

"It was definitely really nice," he said. "They have the kind of atmosphere that I like to be around and the coaches were very humble. I got to see a lot of things around campus and it's the second biggest in the nation so it was real active. The coaching staff was real nice."

Since the end of the season McWilson has blown up with offers from four Big Ten programs in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, and Nebraska. The athletic defender says he is humbled by the recent attention.

"It definitely relieves some stress," McWilson said of the offers. "You're still never completely satisfied and I'm always working hard to get better. I'm always pushing myself to be better than the next guy. The people behind me are pushing themselves so I need to keep pushing to be the better player."

McWilson added that he plans to visit two more Big Ten schools towards the end of the month.

"I have Michigan State on the 25th of this month and the 26th is Illinois," he said. "It's my first visit down to both of those schools. I definitely like to see the atmosphere of the schools and the coaching staff and just how I feel down there. I want to see if it's a school I could see myself graduating from."

Ohio State has already offered McWilson's teammate, linebacker Courtney Love and he said the two have talked about playing together at the next level.

"We've talked about it," he said. "It would be nice to go to the same school, there's definitely a competition between us where we push one another to get better, to get faster, and to get stronger."

McWilson is the No. 16 ranked player in the BuckeyeGrove.com class of 2013 Ohio rankings.
