Scouting Report: ATH Devante Downs







Cal's 2014 class got a nice boost with the commitment of Mountlake Terrace (WA) ATH Devante Downs, a 6'2", 230-pound two-way star for the Hawks last season who rushed for 1,266 yards and 23 touchdowns (7.5 yards per carry), while also recording 63 tackles (17 tackles for loss) and six sacks.



Rivals' No. 20 Athlete nationally and No. 2 prospect in the state of Washington, Downs efforts led to him being named as a First Team All-Wesco 3A South performer at both running back and linebacker, in addition to Conference Player of the Year honors and a selection as a 2014 US Army All-American.



Unfortunately, Downs tore his ACL at an Oregon State camp last month. The injury saw his Rivals ranking drop from a 4-star (5.8) to a 3-star (5.7). He's undergone surgery, and will be unable to play his senior season at Mountlake Terrace as he starts his rehabilitation. Downs will graduate in December and plans to enroll at Cal in the spring.
