Kern picking up interest
Sioux City East defensive end Chase Kern has used his 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame to dominate games this fall at the prep level. His size along with the 65 tackles that he has racked up through seven weeks have opened up some new doors for him on the recruiting front.
"USD, SDSU, North Dakota State, and UNI have all called me in the past week. Iowa has also called me this season and I've been hearing from Iowa State too."
Kern, who is a Class of 2014 prospect, recently saw his scholarship offer list from FCS schools grow.
"USD offered before the season and Thursday night SDSU offered."
Seeing colleges up close has kept Kern busy this fall and that has included a trip to Iowa City.
"I've gone to Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, and I'm going to Iowa State on October 26th. I'll probably also find time to get down to North Dakota State."
Kern spoke highly of seeing the Hawkeyes in action against Western Michigan.
"I love the atmosphere up there. It was a good game time atmosphere. I didn't get to talk to the players but I talked to all of the coaches and they were all nice."
