First '08 UA commitment a coach's dream

Based on some of the late additions of the Alabama 2007 recruiting class, it is no secret that new Tide coach Nick Saban covets tall, rangy lineman with growth potential and versatility. For his first 2008 commitment, Saban headed just a few miles due west on Highway 82 for just such an athlete - 6-foot-6, 240-pound Pickens County star Michael Williams.

"Coach Saban didn't take long to offer Michael," said Pickens County coach Jack Cook, a veteran of the coaching ranks in both Georgia and Alabama. "We are really blessed right now to have a string of not only great athletes, but great kids. Michael is just as terrific off the field as he is on."
