Offensive standouts at NIKE

The NIKE Camp held in Los Angeles had its share of stars and not all of them came from the three schools from Inland Empire that were highlighted in part one. The talent came from all over southern California and there were even players from Las Vegas who were in the house.

It was not surprising in a year that where so much has been mentioned about quarterbacks in the area that there would be several good performances.

USC commit quarterback [db]Matt Barkley[/db] from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei came late, but was well worth the wait. Barkley displayed his skills that has him ranked as the nation's top quarterback. His performance saw him earn co-MVP from the position.

Who was the other quarterback who impressed the coaches to earn co-MVP you are probably asking yourself. It was Allan Bridgford from Mission Viejo, Calif. Bridgford was very notable and showed off a live arm, but throws a very catchable ball. His stock is really taking off this spring, helped by a growing spurt in the offseason that only enhances his quarterback skills. He has been to UCLA this spring and has taken in some practices. He has offers on the table from Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford and Texas Tech.

There was also a sleeper quarterback that opened up some eyes at the camp in Colton Morrison from Oceanside (Calif.) El Camino. BruinBiltz.com first introduced you to Morrison after he attended and had a good showing at UCLA's camp last June. He was all set to make incoming Bruin commit Nelson Roasrio his number one target, but he was injured his junior season and missed seven games. Morrison measured at 6-foot-6 and definitely one to keep your eyes on this fall.

There was an impressive array of tight ends at the camp led by USC commit Morrell Presley. He has the speed and body control of a wide receiver. After getting a closer look at him it is obvious why, even thought he is committed to USC, this is a prospect that will garner looks and will be recruited by D-I schools all the way to sighing day. He did show up at UCLA's junior day and the word is there is some interest there, but he has bonded with incoming Trojan quarterback Barkely.
