Sooner State Star Lives with Big Comparison

For all of the talent that has come from the state of Oklahoma over the last decade it's hard to find much debate about the player who has accomplished the most from Oklahoma's high school ranks. As a two-time All-Pro Wes Welker's success in the NFL has exceeded what anyone thought he was capable of even as a collegiate player.

Since his star rose as a Texas Tech Red Raider one player after another has been compared to the smaller, speedier receiver from Oklahoma City Heritage Hall.

But one after another have fallen short of Welker's considerable talent but it seems that for the first time since his graduation Welker has a true heir apparent in Mustang speedster David Glidden.

The comparison has been made due to Glidden's size, speed, and multi-talented abilities on the field.

So what does Glidden think of such a massive comparison?

"When I first heard it was last year, I didn't even think about it. I think (Mustang head) coach Ty (Prestidge) may have said something about it in the paper and I thought it was cool," Glidden said. "I mean it's Wes Welker he is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL but then again you'd like to have your own style about you."
