Cam McDaniel didn't waste much time jumping at a scholarship offer from Notre Dame.
The three-star running back from Coppell, Texas, received a visit from Irish head coach Brian Kelly and outside linebackers coach Kerry Cooks at school Monday and received an official offer.
Not long after the coaches left McDaniel made the call for Notre Dame.
"(I) went into my coach's office with my dad and told coach (Brian) Kelly myself," McDaniel told Irish Illustrated in a text message.
McDaniel chose Notre Dame over offers from Air Force, Cincinnati, Colorado, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Stanford, Texas Tech and Tulsa, among others.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound prospect had taken recent official visits to Minnesota and Iowa State. The Irish project McDaniel as a future slot receiver in Kelly's spread offense. The Texan is Notre Dame's 17th verbal commitment.
