Johnson trying to keep Auburn commits united
The Auburn commits in this recruiting class have had a lot to deal with. Gene Chizik's staff put a great recruiting class together, but when that staff was let go, the committed prospects faced an uncertain future.
"Everything's still going well with Auburn, I'm still committed," said Johnson. "I'm going to take my visit to Auburn on Jan. 11 and I'll visit Ole Miss on Jan. 18.
"When Chizik was fired, my mindset was that I would de-commit and start looking around at other schools," Johnson said. "Then when they hired Coach Malzahn, that pretty much sealed the deal. Coach Malzahn was the person that gave me my first offer, so now I'm comfortable with the coaching staff and the guys he hired."
Other than performing well here at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Johnson has one another goal in mind.
"I'm trying to get Reuben Foster to come back and Dee Liner to stay and I'm still talking to Earnest Robinson and Jason Smith," Johnson said. "We're just trying to keep the class together and get more commitments. I'm up here trying to recruit Marquez North. I'm not sure which way he is leaning but I'm going to stay on him."
Even though he is still solid to Auburn, Johnson is still going to visit Ole Miss.
"Ole Miss has been recruiting me hard ever since some of the coaching staff was at Arkansas State," Johnson said. "Coach Freeze and I have built a great relationship. The coaching staff at Ole Miss are great people and I enjoy being around them and it's a great place to be.
"I expect to have fun and spend time with the coaching staff on my official visit," he said. "I want to let my parents see Ole Miss because they've never been there."
