South Garland LB lists UT as his leader

One of the huge priorities for the Texas Longhorns in recruiting for the Class of 2008 is at linebacker. In fact, Texas head coach Mack Brown went out of his way to mention on National Signing Day that his staff would be looking to sign at least three linebackers in the class and that they might have to go out of state if they want to find the caliber of player that they desire.

One in-state linebacker that is very much under consideration for an offer from the Longhorns is South Garland standout Joseph Ibiloye.

The 6-3, 205-pound Ibiloye took an unofficial visit to Texas this past weekend for the school's first Junior Day and it appears that the Longhorns made quite an impression on the rising Metroplex star.

"It was a great visit," Ibiloye said. "It was really informative. There was a lot of stuff about the recruiting process that they explained to us and I learned a lot. I got to meet all of the coaches and they make you feel very comfortable."

According to Ibiloye, the Texas staff explained to him that they are still in the evaluation stage when it comes to recruiting linebackers for the coming year.

"They said that they have a new linebacker coach and that he's still in the process of looking at everyone," Ibiloye said. "They told me that they were looking at me at both (linebacker and safety)."

While Ibiloye didn't come away from his visit with an offer, there's no question that the Longhorns have a keen interest in the dynamic young player. There's also no question where the Longhorns sit on his list of favorites.

"Yeah, they are at the top. They are my No.1 school," Ibiloye said. "Basically, I just need to wait and see what happens, but I am very interested in Texas."
