Decision day coming for Bostic
Jon Bostic, who will announce his college decision at Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl. That might be the case but Bostic, from Wellington (Fla.) Palm Beach Central, said after practice earlier this week there is still no leader.SAN ANTONIO - The speculation is that Florida is the team to beat for
"I've been giving everybody a fair chance and trying to see which coach I'm most comfortable with," said Bostic, a four-star inside linebacker. "It kind of comes down to where I feel most comfortable."
Florida, Miami, LSU, Florida State and Clemson are the five finalists and Bostic, who's rated as the fifth-best player at his position by Rivals.com, finished an English class this week at the Army game so he can be an early enrollee.
Bostic will meet with his father Friday to review all of his options and make sure everything has been covered before making his decision public. The Palm Beach Central recruit said sometimes he's sure one school is the perfect fit and then sometimes he is uncertain. Since he's announcing Saturday and enrolling early, his time frame to figure it all out is closing fast.
"I'm comfortable with all of them," Bostic said. "I'm comfortable with the coaches and everything. I need to talk to my dad and see where he's thinking. I want to see which scheme he thinks I would fit better in. He knows most of that stuff about me.
"I go to games and try to enjoy myself. When he's there, he can see a lot more than I can. He's been looking for defensive schemes that would be able to help me play to my best ability. We're also looking for coaches that would be able to give me everything that I want, not just from the football standpoint but academic-wise, too."
Rivals.com recruiting analyst Mike Farrell wrote Wednesday that the Bostic battle is down to the three in-state schools and that unless something unusual happens then Bostic is headed to Gainesville.
Whichever program lands Bostic is getting a top-notch football player who can contribute early. He's been one of the best linebackers in practice this week and plays aggressively in the middle. Rivals.com rates him as the seventh-best player in the Florida top 100 and the No. 68 prospect in the Rivals 100.
