7on7 Feature Future Sooners

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - At last weekend's Texas State 7on7 championships there were numerous prospects that will eventually make their name, and end up on Oklahoma's recruiting lists. But there were a trio that the SoonerScoop.com staff was well aware of and anxious to see, including a pair of former commitments - with the final being a player who was among the first Sooner commitments in the 2017 class before decommitting this spring.

We take a look at how the three prospects fared in the games we had a chance to watch them play in.

What We Saw: Though much of the SoonerScoop.com staff had seen Austin it was our recruiting editor's first look and Austin didn't disappoint in his physical makeup. He is a big and broad defensive back that actually looks somewhat similar to current Sooner safety Steven Parker at the same point in time. Austin still has a lot to learn as a cornerback and though he may not have the explosive speed some associate with the position hiss great size and length could make the transition to safety, if necessary, a natural one. Austin in coverage can play with his hands a bit too much but has good feet and his athleticism and size make him dangerous when the ball is in the air.

What We Saw: Lamb's game didn't get the full attention, due to an interview with the final member of this trio, but when we did see him all lamb did was score touchdowns, shake defenders and look explosive in every way that he could. After watching him up close last season Lamb had left a serious impression on the entirety of the Scoop staff that he was on the short list in the competition for Texas' best receiver. After watching him at 7on7 and how he has continued to physically develop, the challenge has been issued - if the Lone Star State has a better receiver, they'll need to step up and prove it.

What We Saw: Rambo isn't the state's most explosive receiver but he is sneaky fast. The thing that separates him is his length and just how smooth he is as a player; Rambo never looks out of control, never seems to be in a hurry. He is natural and takes the ball down with relative ease. Though it's his steadiness that makes him special he does have tremendously long arms and can attack the ball in the air.
