Cooks Surprised Recent DB Offer

With Oklahoma always have to spread out nationally to find the type of talent it's looking for there are always going to be some offers out of left field. And though at times the player's first contact with Oklahoma is the offer itself, for recent safety offer Joseph Foucha the surprise wasn't the offer itself.

It was, apparently, more about the timing that caught the New Orleans McDonogh 35 product off guard.

"I was talking to coach (Kerry) Cooks and we been keeping in contact, hitting each other up every once in a while," Foucha said.

"When he offered me he had DMed me on Twitter. My phone is off right now I’ll be hitting him up too.

"He really surprised me with it, it was at an unexpected time when he did and how he said it. He kind of shocked me with that one but I was very excited when he told me."

Foucha says he'll visit Norman soon.

Foucha, who has offers from not only the Sooners but Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, and Texas A&M, amongst many others. So what is he'll look at to separate one school from another?

"Mostly, I do want to come in and play as a freshman but a good vibe, good coaches that will take care of me on and off the field. (I'd like a) good campus with good students., just to have fun and learn," he said.

With that in mind Foucha says he'll take some trips this spring but is only sure of two trips at this point in time.

"I’m kind of familiar with the name [Oklahoma] and stuff like that. I watch a few players with OU but I don't know a lot, like around the school – just like the program itself," he explained.

"I have to talk to my coaches but I know for sure we’re coming up (to Oklahoma)."

"(I'm going to visit) Oklahoma for sure and probably Oklahoma State."

Though Foucha is already deeply engrossed in the recruiting process he is in no rush to come to a final decision.

"I want to enjoy the process and do it on National Signing Day."
