Fun Facts: Jacob Phillips

- At No. 37 overall in the Rivals100, East Nashville Magnet linebacker Jacob Phillips became Oklahoma's highest ranked commitment for the class of 2017 when he announced he would be signing with the Sooners at his high school Wednesday.

- He takes a spot that was previously held by Addison Gumbs at No. 65 overall, who is just one spot ahead of Tyrese Robinson at 66.

- If Phillips retains his No. 37 ranking through signing day, it would make him the 5th highest ranked linebacker to sign with Oklahoma during the Rivals era.

- The last Sooner to sign from the state of Tennessee was Brentwood longsnapper Wesley Horky in 2014.

- Phillips is the 16th four-star commitment for Oklahoma in the class of 2017 - more than any other program.

- Oklahoma has signed 16 four-stars or better just four times since 2002: (2002, 2003, 2005, 2010).

- Number of four-stars per class: 2016 (10), 2015 (15), 2014 (9), 2013 (7), 2012 (11), 2011 (9), 2010 (16), 2009 (11), 2008 (15), 2007 (10), 2006 (14), 2005 (16), 2004 (11), 2003 (16), 2002 (16).

- Alabama has 13 four-stars and their combination of 17 four and five stars is the only one greater than the Sooners' 16.

- Oklahoma has the No. 3 ranked recruiting class for 2017.

- The Sooners have only finished in the top 3 in recruiting ranking once, in 2005.

- Phillips is the 22nd commitment in this OU class. Last year, the Sooners signed just 20 players.

- Also at this point a year ago, Oklahoma had just seven commitments and three four-stars.

- The only time since 2002 that the Sooners have reached their 22nd commitment more quickly was when Daryl Williams committed on October 11, 2010. Phillips announced one day following the anniversary.

- The dates in each class that Oklahoma has landed their 22nd commitment: 2016 (N/A), 2015 (Feb. 3), 2014 (Jan. 31), 2013 (Feb. 2), 2012 (Feb. 1), 2011 (N/A), 2010 (Oct. 11 DW), 2009 (Feb. 1), 2008 (N/A), 2007 (N/A), 2006 (Jan. 2), 2005 (Feb. 2), 2004 (N/A), 2003 (N/A), 2002 (N/A)

- That 2010 group finished as the No. 7 recruiting class in the country.

- Jacob joins Jordan Phillips from that class as two top 50 defensive recruits with the surname of Phillips that have committed to Oklahoma.

- The most notable "Jacob" of the Bob Stoops era may be running back Jacob Gutierrez, who rushed for 173 yards in a 2005 overtime win over Baylor.
