Fun Facts: Kennedy Brooks

Whenever a commitment happens, the decision itself is just a part of the puzzle at SoonerScoop.com. We take a look at the choice from all angles and one of the funner sides of the conversation are the 'Fun Facts' where we examine the oddities that go into a decision. With the commitment on Monday of Kennedy Brooks there are several strange oddities including his decision capping one of the longer streaks without a commitment since the class's first commitment last summer.

Also what kind of streak in the Lone Star State does the nation's No. 15 running back revive?

*He is Oklahoma's first commitment in almost two months - Addison Gumbs on August 17. The last time the class had a drought that long was following Robert Barnes' commitment on September 7, 2015 and the following choice of Levi Draper on Dec. 6, 2015.

*With Brooks' commitment and that of Trey Sermon it marks the second time in four years that Oklahoma has landed two four-star (or higher) backs in the same class. The last time was 2014 when Oklahoma signed Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine.

*It also marks four of the last five classes including a four-star Texas running back, with 2016 being the lone exception. The other signees were not only Perine in 2014 but Rodney Anderson in 2015, and Keith Ford in 2013.

*Oklahoma has had plenty of flirtations in Mansfield, one of the truly emerging areas in Texas but the last Mansfield high player they landed? Defensive tackle Adrian Taylor in the much celebrated 2006 class.

*And for those worried? He will be the first player with the first name 'Kennedy' in Oklahoma football history but will be the fourth Brooks, including most recent member - current running back Daniel Brooks.
