Green a big one for Bedenbaugh, Sooners

For all the success Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has had with the Sooners, Friday marked new territory.

Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North offensive tackle Cayden Green continued the hot streak for OU in the month of July, making his selection Friday afternoon.

At No. 34 in the Rivals 100, Green is the highest-ranked commitment for Bedenbaugh during his tenure. All the great names who have come through Norman in the last decade, nobody was ranked as high as what Green is right now. Brey Walker is currently the highest for Bedenbaugh, ranked No. 35 to close out the 2018 class.

The potential five-star tackle was down to OU, LSU, Nebraska and Missouri, with it really feeling like a battle between the Sooners and the home state Tigers in the last month.

OU made a great impression early and often, and Green has been no stranger to Norman during the last year and nothing changed when Brent Venables took over the program.

Green made six unofficial visits to campus since April 2021 before finally taking the official visit like so many other targets June 3 weekend for the ChampU Family BBQ.

The Sooners felt like the favorites for Green for months and months, but the final visit to Mizzou definitely made things interesting for a while.

Green becomes the third offensive lineman to commit to the Sooners and 12th overall pledge and might be joined by some company later this weekend.

Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School three-star offensive tackle Logan Howland is set to make his announcement Saturday, with the Sooners in a really good position.

Green joins fellow four-star prospects in linebacker Phil Piciotti (Monday) and wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway (Wednesday) in making OU the choice this week as OU keeps on making its push up the team rankings.
