Landry, Kenney, Box all shine in Bedlam

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma's 47-41 victory had plenty of heroes, but few bigger than Cameron Kenney and Austin Box. Box made his way back from a serious ankle injury last week against Baylor while Kenney made what could be one of the the biggest plays of the season, an 86-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter. Both players talked about their big days following the win.

Can you talk about the defensive front you guys employed against Oklahoma State? The 50-front and what it was like preparing for that all week?

It was a little different, I won't lie. We trusted in it, we invested in the process and we knew that our coaches knew exactly what they were doing and that's what being a team is about. Everybody comes together and they need to pull their own weight and we invested in the process.

Did you expect them to play faster than they did? It seemed like were a little slower tonight?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
Maybe so just because we haven't shown that look at any point in time. This is the first time they've seen it. I think they have a tremendous coaching staff as well so they were on point and they were able to make some plays.

Austin, can you talk about the struggle for you this week, physically, just to get ready for this and how it felt being out there?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
Well, it was kind of a struggle starting on Sunday and Monday. I really wasn't feeling too well, but our training staff is tremendous being there for us and getting in all our treatment week-in and week-out and making sure if we're going to play that it feels as good as possible. That's where I was at the end of the week and I felt good enough to play.

How deflating was it when you get the touchdown, an 86-yarder and you don't even get a chance to go back out there on defense because they return the kickoff back for a touchdown?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
It was. It was a little frustrating. We were pumped up on the sidelines and ready to go out there and hopefully get a stop and end the game right then but that's football. That's what happens. The other team is going to make some plays as well. You can't ride the emotional roller coaster and you just have go out and do the job when you can as a team. It was an unbelievable team win for us.

What about your emotions as an Enid kid being in Bedlam? It broke out in the fourth quarter.
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
It did. Overall I'm just glad we got the win. That's all I can say. We came here tonight and that was the main goal. We don't care about stats. None of that was important. We came away with the win and we were fortunate.

What was going through your head when you saw them return the kickoff for a touchdown after your big touchdown catch and run?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
I didn't even see it until afterwards. Everyone was still in my face and football is so fast, it changes so fast and everyone was so excited. The next thing you know we're down and we have to go out to work again.

What does it do for this offense when Landry had such a rough first half and then he comes back with an 86-yard touchdown and a 76-yard touchdown to seal it?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
Landry has gotten better and better every week and the o-line protected. With Landry having the confidence in everybody else around him, it just makes it that much easier for everyone to step up and make plays.
Xdaarv232vkarqbr4mdb
Cameron, you always have to stay ready to play. You've been in and out of the lineup. Obviously this is huge for you?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
Yeah. It was kind of hard to get into it when my legs are kind of cold, but all the guys around me and all the coaches tell me to keep my head in the game and stay loose and luckily my number was called and I was able to make plays when we needed it.
Xdaarv232vkarqbr4mdb
Talk about the touchdown. Did you come wide open off the line of scrimmage?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
It just happened so fast. I just knew I had to run my route as fast as I could. I didn't know if the ball was coming to me or not. Landry took that trust in me and shot me the ball.
It was a good feeling. I just want to thank the coaches and the o-line and Landry Jones.
Xdaarv232vkarqbr4mdb
Did you feel you had to score on all those possessions?
Re1bpjgyfurej7oenyps
Every time we get on the field we feel like we have to score no matter what. We fell shy a couple of times and Jimmy Stevens came in and just played phenomenal. He just made up for all the points we left out there. It's definitely stressful knowing you've got to go out there and score and then we can't score when we're supposed to. But every time we get out there we're expecting to score.
