Londell Taylor has surgery, disc jockeys still exist

Bob Stoops met with members of the media on Friday just before the Sooners hit the stadium for their first major scrimmage of the fall.

How'd practice go today?

It went good. You know just the usual. Good for some bad for others.

Did anybody standout? Any new injuries?

Nope. Nothing else

What was it good for today?

Uh … offense. They just did a good job on everything. Except for penalties They are still making too many foolish procedures and you know some little things like that, that are hurting them but they are doing a good job.

Who was it bad for?

Obviously if the offense was good… (smiling). Special teams… special teams was horrible. Dang punter didn't hit the ball 10 yards. (laughing)

He (Tress Way) says his leg is tired…

Yeah because he didn't punt.

He did. He's really been hitting it well and Micahel Hunnicutt has gained a lot of strength from a year ago and is looking good. Field goals too… all of them are much better. Jimmy and Michael are both more consistent so that's a real positive too. Micahel Hill a young, true freshman that just got here is hitting it nice. (He's) a lefty.

Have you been keeping up with this A&M saga?

No.

Heard about it? What are your thoughts?

None. Just do what you need to do so I'm sure we'll do what we have to do and I still believe as of right now we are in a good strong conference and until that changes I don't have much to say about it.

Did you move (Josh) Aladenoye to the defensive line?

Yeah he's been working there the last few days and has done a pretty good job.

As far as your linebacking spot how are the guys working behind Corey Nelson? Londell Taylor?

Londell is having shoulder surgery. Yesterday and was just having reoccurring problems with it and for reasons it was a little too loose and slipping out or whatever so they needed to tie it down.

Is it his throwing shoulder? Because of baseball?

Oh well get the depth chart out. All those guys are working. I mean everybody practices every one of those guys so Aaron Franklin, Daniel Franklin … who else… Rashod Favors … all the linebackers practice all the linebacker positions. That will be tomorrow that will be the next day you know I don't know why that is a big mystery. There all practicing.

I'm not saying it's a mystery… Somebody may be practicing better than someone else…?

Well your asking me … you didn't ask me that.

Ok well who is practicing the best among the linebackers at this point?

They are all about the same (laughing). I mean I hate that question all the guys that are listed there. They are all practicing you know we get about 140 snaps a day and they are all in there divided up so.

Bob I know when you have a scrimmage you try to evaluate everybody on the roster but because running back has so many new faces everyone trying to get carries and stuff … is it a little harder on them tomorrow? Or what are you looking for tomorrow?

We look at all positions hard. Why would one position be different than the other?

I mean just talking to Cale yesterday…pass protecting… a lot of things go into this other than just homerun touchdown runs. Is there specific things you are looking for tomorrow?

Yeah. Tomorrow and the next day and the next day. For 12 years that is what we look at. I mean so tomorrow is no different than it was last year.

Scrimmages aren't weighted more than today's practice?

Oh sure all live situations matter a little more but I'm saying they always have and always will. I mean I'm just saying tomorrow isn't any special day other than it's our normal scrimmage day so sure whatever everybody does… but the running backs will be evaluated you know very strictly and scrutinize everything in a scrimmage.

You hear Kevin Wilson's radio deal?

I've heard about it. I didn't hear it. (laughing) From what I understand I agree with him…they were trying to make light of it and he's not so fond of that. Good for him. About time somebody stood up to those radio disc jockeys (laughing)
