Marcus's Three-Headed Monster

ARLINGTON, Texas - For quite some time Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus has been a hotbed of talent. Names like Robert Timmons, Daniel Noble, and more recently Keaton Sutherland and Kaden Smith have been high-level recruits. Though in nearly 20 years Oklahoma's impact at Marcus is consolidated to signing Noble in the class of 2010.

So for the Sooners already to have two offers out to Marauders in the class of 2019 in offensive tackle Justin Osborne and linebacker Marcel Brooks it's safe to say there is plenty of interest in tripling that total.

Both were recently at the Sooners late summer #ChampUBBQ event and after watching them during their 21-16 win over Arlington Bowie it's not hard to see why the Oklahoma staff has taken such a keen early interest.

Brooks, one of the nation's most highly-regarded linebackers, showed the tools of why he is currently in the conversation to become a five-star in the 2019 Rivals100. The explosive junior is still pretty light, somewhere around 200-pounds, but has the frame needed to add weight and be a dangerous WILL linebacker in the college game.

Though Brooks hasn't yet found his feet as a point of attack player, some of that will come as he gets bigger and stronger - which will come somewhat naturally as his frame begins to fill out.

But what sticks out about his game is his closing speed. On the night Brooks had two sacks and during the first sack when Bowie quarterback Ty DeArman broke outside and thought he had room to maneuver. However, Brooks closed in the blink of an eye to make a play that really began to swing the game after Bowie had the better of things in the early moments.

On the flip side of the ball was Osborne, something of a tweener with the athleticism to play tackle but the height of a guard. Regardless of where he may play in the college game Osborne has the feet that will force college programs to take notice. At around 6-foot-4, and 270-pounds Osborne showed the ability to pull and lead block as well as seal edges. Much like Brooks as he continues to get stronger he'll become a far more dominant player at the point of attack.

Osborne is still a work in progress as a pass blocker but, again, his athletic ability gives every indication that could someday be the strength of his game.

Finally a Marcus Marauder that doesn't have an Oklahoma offer but is sure to pick up plenty of notoriety going forward is 2019 three-star running back Justin Dinka. The skilled back took a little while to get going but as the game wore on he became more and more effective. Dinka has nice lateral quickness and for being a longer back he is more physical than one might expect.

All in all, Marcus's tradition of turning out high caliber talent looks to get another set of big additions in the next few years.
