Oklahoma's 2019 Watch List

The Skinny: Ansley is one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2019 class as he shows the ability to fly up this list but is, as of yet, unproven to the degree that could see him fall off the list considerably. In the recruiting world Ansley is the definition of 'boom or bust' but there is reason to think his physicality and frame could turn into a quality defensive back prospect.

The Skinny: You can't find guys with this type of frame, it's really as simple as that. Whether you think Boomer will emerge as the next great tight end or develop into a tackle, defensive end or anything else. His size blended with his top-end athletic ability makes him a near unstoppable recruiting force with his future position 'in the eye of the beholder' so to speak.

The Skinny: Few players on this list blew up more this spring than Boone. The talented back did so largely after spending his sophomore year backing up one of the state's most under appreciated talents, Shamari Brooks. Boone has more physical tools than his predecessor at times flashing real speed. Keep an eye on him as he is one who could go on a run of offers in the next few months.

The Skinny: In the mid-2000s Ardmore became a must stop in recruiting circles, highlighted by eventual All-American and NFL first round pick Jermaine Gresham in 2006. Bryant is one of two Tigers on this list and is a player that shined this spring and summer as a defensive lineman but it is as a center that Bryant may have his best future.

The Skinny: Cable so far hasn't shown a lot on tape but he is a guy with a nice frame and Bixby is developing a tradition of producing high quality blockers. Keep an eye on Cable as numerous programs around the country are already asking about him.

The Skinny: Another guy that went from a name to well known this spring, Clay is the near polar opposite of his defensive end teammate Ron Tatum. Clay is a twitchy end that is, often, seen as a pure pass rusher but he has more size to his frame than he gets credit for and he'll likely arrive on a college campus somewhere around 6-foot-3 and 250-pounds. That allows him a certain versatility to move around and play a lot of different roles in a defensive front, all the way from a 3-4 outside linebacker to possibly even a 4-3 3-technique.

The Skinny: Davis is the latest in a long-line of Wolverines to make this list through the years and though he isn't the biggest guy around it's hard to not like what he brings to the table. Davis is a natural cover corner that shows quick feet and the ability to stick his foot in the ground and drive on plays in front of him stands out from most of his peers.

The Skinny: Foreman, as much as any player on this list, may be the breakout candidate from this list. Del City is one of those quiet teams in the state this year that has a lot of under appreciated talent. Foreman first made his name as a freshman at Southeast but transferred to the Eagles last year and began to flash some real potential. This year could be the year when it all comes together for the talented receiver and special teams standout.

The Skinny: Though Southmoore has seen massive roster changes this offseason the Sabercats are far from without prospects worth keeping an eye on. Gaines is at the head of that list heading into 2017. He is a physical defender that could also feature some at quarterback this year for Jeremy Stark's bunch.

The Skinny: One of the early favorites for the state's top spot and the latest in a run of Tulsa area safeties that is pretty much unprecedented - following Steven Parker and Josh Proctor. Hill is a player that has been good in his first two years for the Hornets but if his spring and summer work is to be believed, he is just getting started. Hill blends top end athletic skills with a good frame and the ability to punish anyone coming over the middle. Where he really excels is playing in off coverage and attacking the ball in the air.

The Skinny: One of the state's most entertaining watches, seriously go check out his highlights in the state 2016 semifinals against Adair, particularly his kickoff return. Though, at times, he has shown the propensity to double-catch or simply struggle with a drop or two Houston is a capable receiver that is absolutely dynamic with the ball in his hands. His ability as a slot receiver as well as a return man is part of what makes him one of the state's most sought after players early on in 2019 recruiting.

The Skinny: Manuel is a player whose recruitment has been aided tremendously by so much talent coming in front of him as so far he has largely been about being a tremendously talented guy with great natural gifts. The big defender hasn't played a ton of football yet but his frame and high end athleticism makes for a player that could explode this year.

The Skinny: Martin isn't well known yet but has nice length and flashes speed on his sophomore tape that makes one think that could change before long. Martin works almost exclusively at receiver on his tape but don't be surprised to see him emerge as a corner prospect thanks to good feet and quick acceleration.

The Skinny: Mashburn is that defensive end that every offensive lineman hates facing, he'll never stop pursuing, never stop trying to find ways to beat you, he'll just keep coming at you over and over again. Though just a bit on the short side Mashburn is very physical and is highly capable of playing both the run and pass. What's also interesting is that he could also fit in under several different roles, including possibly even hback.

The Skinny: If there was a player in the state that Scoop just can't figure out the reticence by some to get involved with, it might be McClould. A corner with nice length, the ability to turn and run and not to mention the chance to see him going against elite talent every day in practice. Keep an eye on him, one of the real in-state breakout candidates for 2019.

The Skinny: McLain was a player that started making waves as a freshman for the Patriots but has gone a but unnoticed in the recruiting game - perhaps due to a lack of video available on him. However, he is a promising blocker that has good feet and though listed as a tackle will almost certainly kick inside.

The Skinny: After catching Scoop's eye heading into his sophomore season Murdock has really begun to fill out heading into his junior campaign. Murdock is a player that was once seen as a defensive end but is quickly growing into a defensive tackle with some ability to shoot gaps and become a disruptive force.

The Skinny: Nance is one of those player that we just stumbled onto. While watching one of his teammates we couldn't help but notice a speedy receiver who kept showing up on tape. Then while talking to several of his opposing coaches it became clear just how dangerous the young pass catcher was becoming for the Lions. Nance has ability to attack vertically but also is dangerous in open space after the catch.

The Skinny: Phillips is a unique player that while listed as an all-purpose back may need to be moved to more of a pure athlete designation. Within that grouping he could fit into a number of roles, running back, fullback, strong safety, in fact Phillips has developed so much physically the idea of him being a 4-3 outside linebacker isn't impossible.

The Skinny: Reece is a highly athletic defensive lineman that has a lot of questions marks around him just because he is so far from the beaten path in recruiting. Reece shows the ability to shoot gaps with his quickness and has the type of frame to develop as a complete interior defensive lineman.

The Skinny: Roberts isn't the biggest corner but he is the latest in a long line of explosive athletes from the Tigers. Roberts is highly twitchy and shows a very natural ability to attack the ball in the air.

The Skinny: Roland is a player that was little known at this point last year, in fact he was almost entirely unknown before the SoonerScoop.com staff walked onto the field for Broken Arrow's spring practice. After spending his sophomore year a little overweight and on the offensive side of the ball Roland trimmed down and is now flashing as a star on the defensive side of the ball. He has a lot to prove on Friday nights but the tools are there for this to be a guy that people follow this year.

The Skinny: Spring is easily the least known player on this list but his length, motor, and emerging athletic ability make him a guy worth keeping track of. Spring is still figuring things out and right now is getting by on his natural gifts and as those continue to develop he could emerge as a notable in this class.

The Skinny: What do you know, Union has another standout - their fourth on this list, following three top 20 players in the 2017 class. Stromberg is a physical offensive linemen who loves to mix it up and will be a key piece of the Redskins hopes of returning to the state's top spot in 2017.

The Skinny: Taylor hasn't received a lot of attention and, in fact, has kind of shown a light on all of the success of mighty Carl Albert and how it's been done with shockingly few high level recruits. Taylor has the speed to break big plays but is an interesting body type, it will be worth watching if he can physically develop and become a guy that looks more capable of handling the work between the tackles.

The Skinny: Another guy on this list who has a huge upside but so far is more about what he 'can be' rather than what he 'is' at this moment. Venegas has prototypical length and, at times, flashes elite turn and run ability. Like many long corners his technique can get a little sloppy at times but each time the Scoop staff sees him, he seems to take a step forward.
