Following Knights Trail from Start to Norman

With more and more Sooner fans wanting to know more about the players that will soon take to Owen Field there is always an element of bewilderment for some when a young high school prospect pledges his future to the Sooners with a verbal commitment.

'Who is this kid, is he a big deal?'

Due to his quiet nature, there isn't a lot of 'on the record' information on San Antonio Reagan's current quarterback, and Josh Heupel's future pupil, Trevor Knight. However as one of Texas' top quarterback prospects and a member of top 250 prospects in the country, also known as the Rivals250, as well as holding offers from Oklahoma, LSU, Clemson, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, and TCU among many others it's clear he has been highly thought of for quite some time.

Knight first burst onto the scene by taking the reins of Reagan's offense as a sophomore and accumulating almost 2,000 yards of total offense while leading the Rattlers to an 8-3 overall record, including going 7-1 in district play. Following his strong sophomore campaign he camped at Texas, the school he grew up following, along with SMU, TCU, and Texas Tech.

Unfortunately following a great sophomore season and a great summer of camps, Knight's junior year never fully took off due to injuries to his star receiver and a collection suffered by the Rattlers entire team ending in a disappointing 5-5 season. However if you ask Knight what the problem was, he leaves no doubt and offers no excuses.

"If you ask him, he'll put it all on his shoulders and just tell you he needs to get better," said one Rattler source.

However that junior year, in which he threw 11 touchdowns against eight interceptions, didn't slow down his recruiting process as one school after another tossed their hat in the ring for a player many thought to be in the conversation for Texas' top quarterback prospect in the class of 2012. In fact Oklahoma hosted Knight for their own junior day in late January and it became clear after Heupel, Bob Stoops, and Bobby Jack Wright stopped by in the early spring that the Sooners had real interest in Knight.

That belief was furthered when Heupel returned to watch Knight throw just a few weeks later. However, it seemed the Sooners interest was all for not as they continued their pursuit of Gunner Kiel at roughly the same time Knight pulled the trigger on a commitment to Texas A&M on March 3.

Due to that commitment and Oklahoma's pursuit of Kiel it seemed the Sooners and Knight were a done deal. But as things became crazier and crazier with Kiel's recruitment and no end in sight to his decision process the Sooners started to change course. Almost as quickly as the plans changed for the Sooners night, and his brother Connor Knight, started thinking of changing their future reservations from College Station to Norman.

A short time later and the Knight twins announced their change of heart via Facebook.
