With Saturday's commitment of Rivals100 running back T.J. Pledger of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy it's time for our feature 'Fun Facts' breaking down how each commitment connects to previous recruiting classes and the various players within them. Not surprisingly, Pledger has a ton of connection and brings up some interesting realities, particularly in recruiting Florida, of Oklahoma's recruiting efforts.
- Pledger's No. 35 overall ranking would tie him with DeMarco Murray as the 5th highest ranked RB signee for OU in the Rivals era.
- Pledger is the first commitment for Oklahoma from the football-prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton (Fla.).- Pledger is one of nine recruits from IMG in 2018 to hold an OU offer.
- Joshua Moore, Brian Hightower, Reuben Unije, Taron Vincent, Verdis Brown, Brendan Radley-Hiles, Curtis Dunlap, and Houston Griffith.
- Pledger would make it back-to-back years for Oklahoma to land a recruit from a Florida high school - joining K'Jakyre Daley from 2017.
- Before Daley, OU had gone three consecutive classes, following Ahmad Thomas in 2013, without signing a single player from the Sunshine State.
- The most Florida commitments in one class was four in 2012 (Eric Striker, Ty Darlington, Gary Simon, and Laith Harlow).
- Pledger would be the highest ranked signee from a Florida school for OU in Rivals history.- He would be just the 3rd Rivals100 signee for OU from Florida, joining Roy Finch (94) and Davin Joseph (98).
- Although, Pledger is technically from West Hills (Cali.), which is in the Los Angeles area.- This is a reverse of Marquise Brown from a year ago, who was from Florida, but signed with Oklahoma from a school in California.
- T.J. should become the first Pledger football player at Oklahoma.
- The men's basketball team had Steven Pledger from 2010-13, who is No. 3 on the school's all-time three-point field goals made list.
- Pledger is the 5th Sooner commitment so far in 2018. Putting them just behind 2017's pace, which had seven commitments on this date a year ago.
- Oklahoma's 2018 offensive class now includes the nation's No. 5 running back, No. 3 pro-style quarterback (Cameron Rising), and No. 3 offensive tackle (Brey Walker).
