Future Sooners Growing

Oklahoma's commitment list added two new members in the last week and both Brian Asamoah and Trejan Bridges made dramatic impacts in their first week here, with one taking home the Week 2 MVP award. Beyond that there were plenty of big performances, including from a pair of the Sooners elite offensive line commitments.

The Skinny: A day after his commitment to Oklahoma Asamoah got off to a huge start with a 28-7 win over Cardinal Mooney. On the night Asamoah had a career high 130-yards rushing a pair of touchdown runs (4, 66) a sack, and a key fourth down stop.

The Skinny: Austin was part of a Lancaster secondary that only allowed five completed passes in a 56-20 demolition of South Oak Cliff.

The Skinny: Carter and Aledo walked through Mexico City's Aguilas Blancas IPN 50-8 with Carter, in limited action, had a 22-yard reception.

The Skinny: Rockdale, without the services of Crawford for the foreseeable future, got a season-opening win over Taylor, 21-14.

The Skinny: Due to Hurricane Irma Deerfield Beach's game was canceled.

The Skinny: Fields and the Redskins got a tougher battle than many expected from a suddenly wounded arch rival Jenks. However, after a shaky first half Fields led a defensive unit that took much more control in the second half to top the Trojans 59-40.

The Skinny: Brenham got their season started in emphatic fashion with a 48-7 win over Elgin. In the Cubs run-heavy offense Johnson had just one catch for 11-yards.

The Skinny: Kelley kept his big start to the season collecting yet another big sack as Kelley begins to put together a serious highlight reel for his senior season. This week his team downed rival Jenks 59-40.

The Skinny: McLellan suffered an injury in week one and will miss a few weeks of action but his team managed a dominating 50-8 victory over Mexico City's Aguilas Blancas IPN.

The Skinny: Independence got their second straight win downing Garden City 27-23 while averaging 6.1-yards per carry.

The Skinny: Mordecai, after a bit up and down first week, was very solid in a key 34-19 win over Round Rock Cedar Ridge. He went 27-41 for 280-yards and four touchdowns (47, 22, 12, 32).

The Skinny: Rattler helped his team to another win, this time 26-7 over Mesa Mountain View, going 15-27 for 159-yards and one touchdown, against two interceptions.

The Skinny: Robinson had another strong night with seven receptions for 57-yards and a pair of touchdowns (3, 30) and he also had a 60-yard punt return for touchdown in All Saints's 51-28 win over Addison Trinity Christian.

The Skinny: Simpson helped pave the way for an offense that put up a second week of big numbers with 427-yards rushing, including 406-yards, with DeMareus Hosey, in Northwest's 56-46 win over McKinney North.

The Skinny: In his first game back from injury Stogner had three catches for 19-yards, including a one-yard touchdown catch in Prestonwood's 47-20 win against Houston Episcopal.

The Skinny: Putnam City's defense was stellar as the Pirates dominated El Reno 63-6. Tatum was a big part of that success with 15 tackles, a half sack, and a pass breakup.

The Skinny: Due to a hamstring injury Taylor continued to sit out as Ridgeway continued their rough start to the year, losing 56-20 to Little Rock (Ark.) Pulaski Academy.

The Skinny: Dunbar may not have played their most beautiful game but Thomas had a pair of rushing touchdowns (19, 1), the latter being the game-winner with just seconds remaining, and roughly 100-yards in Dunbar's 26-20 win over Mount Healthy.

Next Week: Dunbar (2-1) is hosting Shroder Paideia Academy on Thu., Sept. 14.

The Skinny: In what was undoubtedly a personal game for Walker, he beat his former teammates at Southmoore, 53-6 as Westmoore was strong offensively on the night.
