Green Gets an Early Start

Though they be named as 'junior days' there are definitely a few select rising sophomores who are on hand at each event for Oklahoma. At the Sooners most recent day one such visitor was Dallas Woodrow Wilson running back Darrion Green.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete has already been busy making the rounds, including a recent junior day visit to SMU, but was anxious to make the trip to Norman with his mother.

"It was really great out there and I met some coaches, it was fun," Green said.
"It took four hours from Dallas to Norman and my mom had some transportation issues but she got it fixed for the long drive. When we got to Norman I was shocked because I'd never seen the place but it's a place where there are so many OU signs everywhere in the street.
Though the Sooners football program is the primary focus of all junior day functions it doesn't miss the chance to show off another aspect that caught the attention of both Green and his mother.
"Oklahoma has really great programs not just for football but also their academics," he said.
Green says he spent the trip being showed around by Sooner assistant coaches and during that tour found a few aspects of Oklahoma's program that suited him.
"(The) locker room and facilities stand out to me because coaches care about athletes so they provide everything. What they need like foods, protein, and everything with football gear. They have some former OU players on the wall in the hallway to honor the best players."
Green has plans to take numerous visits over the next more than 20 months before Signing day in 2017.
"Baylor, Texas, OU, SMU, TAMU, LSU, Oregon state, TCU Arkansas , Texas tech probably Alabama and Florida State too," Green explained.
