Green Not Shy About Plans in Norman

This time last week Moore (Okla.) Westmoore three-star wide receiver Dahu Green was planning to make in-state programs Oklahoma and Oklahoma State regret passing on him by lighting up the scoreboard for Washington State. Green, a Cougars commitment since early January, felt he should have received more attention from the two Big 12 programs but had no qualms proving himself elsewhere.
Fast forward a week and Green not only has an Oklahoma offer, not only took an official visit to Norman but on Monday night announced his commitment to Oklahoma via Twitter.

And while the Sooners are now on his side, the 6-foot-4, 188-pound Green says he is already looking forward to one annual late season meeting.
"Oklahoma has known for a little while that I was going to Oklahoma. They were excited, we just couldn't wait to get this thing rolling," Green said. "I committed to coach Lincoln Riley.
"Oh yeah [it's a chance to prove myself]. Definitely, you get to play schools like Oklahoma State, I'm going to play with a chip on my shoulder and show people that they made a mistake on overlooking me."
As Green mentioned he, and the Sooners could hardly wait to get the ball rolling on his decision so after planning to announce his choice during a signing day ceremony he elected to speed up the process.
And he didn't do it without a few other motives in mind.
"I was going to announce it on Wednesday but I figured I might as well just say what I'm going to do so I can maybe get a few other recruits. I've got some ties to other recruits," he said alluding to, at least, Rivals250 offensive guard Josh Wariboko. "When I was there, I kind of figured it out, coming home, having an opportunity to come home; that made my decision for me.
"It was Sunday night and Monday morning that I really knew.
"My family, they are pretty happy that would get expensive."
Though he had been committed to Washington State for quite some time it was the similarities between the Cougars current offense and the Sooners expected one under Riley that made the idea of changing his future home a bit easier.
"I kind of felt like it might be OU (before I took my visit) just because it's closer. It would be easier for my family, people who follow me. I felt like if I liked it enough it would be the choice," he said. "I'm going to play X, it'll be an air raid offense. We're going to rotate a lot, A.D. Miller will be a Z and there are a few other guys that are as tall as me. It'll be just like I was at Westmoore other than I was a Z.
"The coaches just told me, that OU doesn't have enough receivers. In the Air raid offense, it's a fast and up pace and you'll have to rotate so the best players are going to play and the second best players are going to play, and maybe the third best players are going to play. People are going to rotate so much.
"If I'm the best player or the second best player, we're all going to rotate, so everyone is going to get some receptions."
That being said, the change of heart was easier in theory than it was calling the Washington State coaching staff and letting them know of his choice.
"It was tough of course, telling them about it, and you built that relationship and trying to cut it off was different. It was a tough decision but coach Mike Leach understood," he said.
As mentioned a big part of Oklahoma's ability to turn Green from motivated foe into future Sooner was new offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley. Green offered his thoughts on the Sooners new playcaller.
"He is an awesome dude, he is a family guy. He seems like an honest dude, it'll be fun getting to work with him," he said.
Now that the decision is made Green won't have the pomp and circumstance, nor the drama, of a signing day announcement but he is pleased that he will be walking in to simply sign and be done with the process.
It's a decision he was made more comfortable with by spending time with several of his classmates who have already enrolled in Norman during last weekend's official visit.
"I was hosted by John Humphrey and Rodney Anderson. We were with a couple of older guys; I got to go to dinner with Zack Sanchez and stuff, also we met up with Sterling Shepard," Green recalled.
"(Sanchez) and John Humphrey were going at it. (Sanchez) said he had the best hands on the team, I told him 'not if I go here' so we were talking a little bit (laughing)."
Green, a massive wide receiver already says he was also blown away by two of the more publicly unheralded members of the Sooner staff.
"I loved the weight room, I know everything is going to be new in two years, or a year and a half but really just how the strength coach and dietician, they are so bought into the program. I really liked that."
