Avila spent last season at Seward County (Kan.) Community College. As a sophomore, he averaged 11.4 points and 5.8 boards per game and was an All-Jayhawk second team selection.
Avila was among two junior college transfers, including Labette Community College center Keshaun Hamilton, expected to join the Sooner men's basketball team this fall.
Hamilton is enrolled in classes at OU but did not participate in OU's European tour this month.
