Kendal Thompson breaks right foot

Bob Stoops says sophomore quarterback Kendal Thompson suffered a fractured right foot in the Sooners first practice of fall camp.
"Kendal will undergo a surgical procedure today," Stoops announced in a statement through OU. "He is eager to rejoin his teammates on the field as soon as possible."

Stoops didn't rule out Thompson's return this year, saying he expects him back this season.
"We're optimistic that Kendal will return early in the season," he said.
Thompson was battling Blake Bell and Trevor Knight for the starting quarterback job this fall, but it now appears to be a two man race to replace Landry Jones.
The Sooners do have a fourth scholarship quarterback in true freshman Cody Thomas, who was expected to redshirt this season while Thompson, Bell and Knight battled for the starting job this fall.
