Nation's Best React to Riley

With the addition of Lincoln Riley as Oklahoma's head man there were a lot of questions to be asked of the numerous key Sooner recruits hanging around in Indianapolis for the Rivals 5-Star Challenge. Many of them took some time to talk about their early dealings with Riley - as most all have now spoken to Oklahoma's new leader - and just what the change could mean to their recruitment.

About Gervin: Gervin committed to Notre Dame early on but decommitted in the first week of May and has since looked around. He hails from one of the Big 10 regions most talent-rich programs and is expected to visit Norman for the Sooners Summer barbecue.

Gervin Talks Lincoln Riley: "I'm just wanting to chill with coach Riley (at the barbeque)."

"Two days ago, the day after coach retired, he hit me up.

"At first it was like 'man coach retired, that's crazy'. Then I talked to him, he was just real excited, telling me nothing has changed. Was saying coach (Kerry) Cooks was going to be there, coach Mike Stoops was going to be there and to not worry really.

"That helped me a lot. Especially with their position, nothing has changed, everything is still smooth."

About Jenkins: Jenkins was amongst Oklahoma's earliest national offers along the offensive line and a player most believe the Sooners are very high on. He'll be in Norman soon enough and many feel Oklahoma is at the top of his list.

Jenkins Talks Lincoln Riley: "Coach Riley, he came down to see me before school got out. I talked to him after and got to know him.

"It was great for coach Riley to get the head coaching job, because I already met my head coach."

About Perkins: Another of Oklahoma's earliest offers Perkins has long been a focus of Oklahoma's defensive line efforts and while the Sooners have climbed his list he has climbed the recruiting charts. Perkins shined at the 5-Star Challenge and looks a near ideal fit for Oklahoma's new multi-fronted defense.

Perkins Talks Riley: "Coach Stoops is a great coach, one of the most storied coaches in the NCAA. So it's a big impact, but at the same time it doesn't change how I feel about Oklahoma.

"I've talked to coach Riley and I also believe he can get it done."

About Scott: The talented inside linebacker visited Oklahoma the weekend before the change of head coaches. However, he and his mother seemed to truly enjoy themselves during their time in Norman and he is already discussing a return for an official visit.

Scott Talks Riley: "I actually talked to coach Riley yesterday. He brokedown everything for me. He just said all the coaches are going to be there and everything is going to be the same. It's nothing different.

"Not much (to change my interest)."

About Stills: Stills has already released his final three of Florida, Oklahoma, and West Virginia. He has some very, very strong family connections to West Virginia, which will be tough to overcome but he'll be in Norman this summer and things could get moving.

Stills Talks Riley: “He’s a great guy. He knows what he’s doing,” said Stills. “I think he’ll do great taking his spot.

“I’m just looking forward to meeting him in this person this summer and getting to know him a lot better."

About Wease: A one-time Oklahoma commitment Wease said at the Five-Star Challenge that Oklahoma was his current No. 1. He also seems like a player that will only grow in interest with the addition of Riley. However, the Sooners have plenty of work in front of them as Wease has picked up offers from coast to coast since his decommitment.

Wease Talks Riley: “I still haven’t seen the facilities yet but I actually called coach Riley the other day when I found out the news about coach Stoops. He’s still positive and everything and just wanted to see me when I come up.

“Nothing’s really changing for me. I feel like coach Riley is going to run the program as great as anybody else ever did.”
