OU starting CB Jordan Thomas won't be suspended for opener

Oklahoma starting cornerback Jordan Thomas, who was arrested and booked into the Cleveland County Jail at 2:45 a.m. on June 30, on complaints of public intoxication and interference with official process, along with one complaint of assault and battery, will not be charged in the incident.

Sources confirmed to SoonerScoop.com Thomas and the OU football program received the news earlier this evening.

Another source confirms to SoonerScoop.com Thomas will not be suspended from any games because of the events of that evening on Campus Corner and any punishment due to Thomas' involvement in the incident will be handled internally.

Thomas’ status in the season opener was a major topic of conversation as the Sooners are preparing to open the season with the 13th ranked Houston Cougars inside NRG Stadium Sept. 3, in Houston.

Oklahoma was already working to replace starting cornerback Zack Sanchez who declared for the NFL Draft following his redshirt junior season in 2015.

With Thomas cleared for duty, the Sooners will head into the season opener with 4 of their top 5 secondary starters from a year ago.

Last season Thomas was second on the team in interceptions (5), passes defended (9) and passes broken up (4).
