That’s transfer life nowadays. Oklahoma fans remember former Texas Tech defensive back Reggie Pearson as the guy who laid out quarterback Dillon Gabriel on a trick play in overtime last month.
Now? Now they’re going to know him as a Sooner.
Pearson announced his commitment to the Sooners on Thursday morning, transferring from the Red Raiders.
A three-star recruit for the 2018 class, Pearson began his college career at Wisconsin before heading to Lubbock the last two seasons.
He was very productive with the Red Raiders, totaling 109 combined tackles with three interceptions and seven passes defensed in the last two seasons.
Pearson also had 60 tackles in 2019 for Wisconsin, bringing three years of quality experience into OU’s defensive back room.
He becomes the fourth transfer addition for Brent Venables’ club to this point and the first defensive back.
Pearson joins former Notre Dame defensive lineman Jacob Lacey, former South Carolina tight end Austin Stogner and former Indiana linebacker Dasan McCullough in joining OU.
As for Gabriel? Sounds like he’s taking it in stride.
