SCOOP HD: Spring football set to get started

Bob Stoops gets set to address the media this afternoon as spring football practices begin today in Norman. The Sooners will have 15 practices, which will culminate with the Red & White Game on April 14.

The Sooners will work out seven times over the next two weeks before shutting things down from March 16-26 for spring break. Stoops has always favored starting practices before spring break to get into the flow of things while allowing the break to serve as a buffer between the first and second half of spring practices.
The Sooners generally have three major scrimmages during spring football which usually take place on Saturdays. But none of those major scrimmages have been open to the public or the media for several years now.
It doesn't appear that policy has changed this year.
This spring will be very different for the defense as Mike Stoops and Tim Kish take over the OU defense following the departure of Brent Venables to Clemson.
SoonerScoop.com will have reports throughout the day from the first day of practice as well as our first look at newcomers such as Trey Metoyer, Kass Everett, Taylor McNamara, Chaz Nelson, Jordan Wade, and Brannon Greenfrom this afternoon's practice.
Expect press conference video as well as photos and video from today's practice later tonight and throughout tomorrow. We'll also have our first interviews, stories and notebooks - as well as tidbits on the Crimson Corner - from all of today's start to spring football.
We will also have interviews with offensive and defensive players and coaches during this first week of practices. So stay logged in to SoonerScoop.com for all the latest as spring practices get underway.
