SCOOPHD: Robison Talks Big Decision

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - As a class of 2017 Rivals100 member Oklahoma's recent quarterback commitment - the Sooners first in his class - Chris Robison showed up at the Texas State 7on-7 championships with plenty of eyes on him. And he did little to disappoint with a tournament opening seven touchdown performance against Trophy Club Byron Nelson in an 47-41 overtime win.
SoonerScoop.com had a chance to watch him more closely against Manvel in a 39-28 loss to one of the state's most talented teams. After falling behind early on, Robison was a big part in a rally that nearly saw the Jaguars take the lead before a pair of interceptions, one on a tipped ball, by talented 2017 safety Derrick Tucker.

Though he didn't come out on top Robison showed off the accuracy and calm in his decision making that pushed Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley toward issuing his offer a month to the day of his performance against Manvel.
In spite of three interceptions on the day that accuracy and calm were the two most notable pieces of the puzzle. Whether it was after a bad decision or looking a defender off to open a passing lane for a touchdown, Robison never looked troubled or out of control. He simply faced a defense loaded with FBS talent that, at times, forced him into a bad throw or two.
Regardless Robison's talent and fit into Riley's scheme is nearly perfect as he even showed off some ability to make plays outside of the pocket. Of course in 7-on-7 the quarterback run game is not a possibility but there are plenty of rollouts and bootlegs meant to make the defense move into uncomfortable positions. When he did, Robison delivered multiple strikes while on the move.
NOTES:
*Another pair of Sooner offers that were on the same field during the event were Plano East's Anthony Hines and Adewale Omotosho. The latter earned his offer the same day as Robison and showed why with smooth route running and a natural ability to reel in pass after pass with his hands. Hines is a player that has the size and frame to excel in run defense but showed ability against the pass and will only improve, as his footwork gets more refined.
*As mentioned one of the big efforts of the day came from Tucker who collected three interceptions from Robison. The big safety with great length played the middle of the field and attacked the ball when it was in the air. He'll definitely be a name to remember from a program Oklahoma has recruited heavily for the last half decade, and produced current Sooner receiver Austin Bennett.
*Perhaps the most physically impressive player on the field was Trophy Club Byron Nelson's Brandon Bowen, the nation's current No. 50 overall player. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound weakside defensive end prospect spent the day working as a receiver and caught several key scores for the Bobcats. His size and athletic ability makes him a rare find and will be in the national focus this summer due to his plans to make a commitment, where the Sooners are thought to be one of the contenders.
