Sooners add to 2014 class with preferred walk-on

Plano (Texas) John Paul II guard Bola Alade committed to Oklahoma as a preferred walk-on Monday evening.
Alade didn't receive many Division I offers but Amateur Athletic Union coach Shawn Williams Sr. insists he's a Division I talent. Alade plays for Williams' Texas Select team.

"Bola is a scholarship player," Williams Sr. said. "He chose to walk-on at Oklahoma because of assistant coach Lew Hill. They really liked him before he got hurt."
"He missed the whole summer except two tournaments, and he really wasn't himself in the two tournaments he did play in. Now he's back to 100 percent and has had a great high school career."
Williams Sr. said 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard can handle the ball and has a quick first step. His slender frame also gives him room to grow.
Alade recently led his prep team to the 5A state championship game but lost by just one point to rival Prestonwood Christian in the finals. Alade's John Paull II squad has made it to the semifinals of the state championship in each of the last four years.
Williams Sr. believes the Sooners are getting a quality perimeter player.
"He's just a solid player, solid kid, solid family too," Williams Sr. said.
