Defender Puts up Points

Oklahoma's lengthy commitment list is chocked full of talent but even for all of their talent, week in and week out there are various standouts. This week a few usual suspects battled for the top spot, and MVP award, but it was a player who found success on both sides of the ball, in a top five matchup, that took home top honors.

The Skinny: Asamoah and DeSales had a tough night in a 42-7 loss to Winton Woods. He had several tackles but was largely quiet on the night.

Next Week: DeSales (5-4) is hosting Bishop Watterson.

The Skinny: Austin and Lancaster, in their brutal district, came up just short again falling 30-28 to Mansfield Timberview but Austin and his secondary held Timberview to just 56-yards on 3-10 passing.

Next Week: Lancaster (3-4) is hosting Red Oak.

The Skinny: Baldwin had his season ended in the season opener with a knee injury but in spite of his absence Falls found another way for a tight 34-31 win over Cy-Ridge.

Next Week: Cy-Falls (4-2) is traveling to Jersey Village.

The Skinny: Bridges just keeps putting up strong numbers week after week. This time going for five receptions for 103-yards and a 48-yard touchdown in Hebron's 34-21 win over Flower Mound.

Next Week: Hebron (6-1) is hosting Euless Trinity.

The Skinny: Carter and Aledo set a new state record with 71-straight district wins in a 52-13 win over Haslet Eaton. On the night Carter had one catch for eight-yards.

Next Week: Aledo (6-0) is traveling White Settlement Brewer.

The Skinny: Crawford got off to a slow start but ended up with a huge night with four touchdowns in a 63-34 win over arch rival, and small school powerhouse, Cameron Yoe. Crawford had touchdown runs of 3, 20, and 21-yards along with a leaping 8-yard touchdown catch.

Next Week: Rockdale (5-2) is hosting McGregor.

The Skinny: Edwards and Deerfield Beach's defense continued their domination, with not one but two wins this week - as the Bucks make up for Hurricane Irma games. In game one they downed Blanche Ely 55-8, and in the second crushing Monarch 49-0.

Next Week: Deerfield Beach (6-2) is traveling to Sunrise Piper on Sat., Oct. 28.

The Skinny: Against a former standout in 6A-1, Union crushed Southmoore 48-0.

Next Week: Union (8-0) is hosting Putnam City North.

The Skinny: In a wild 64-61 win over Tomball Memorial Johnson had five carries for 45-yards and a pair of touchdowns along with five caches for 35-yards.

Next Week: Brenham (4-1) is traveling to Tomball.

The Skinny: Kelley kept his Redskins rolling in a dominant 48-0 win over Southmoore.

Next Week: Union (8-0) is hosting Putnam City North.

The Skinny: Aledo kept rolling with a 52-13 win over Haslet Eaton but McLellan is still out with an injury.

Next Week: Aledo (6-0) is traveling White Settlement Brewer.

The Skinny: Moore, who is out for the season with injury, and Independence had the week off.

Next Week: Independence C.C. (6-1) is hosting Hutchinson C.C. on Sat., Oct. 28.

The Skinny: Mordecai has Midway looking like a contender for a deep playoff run as they downed Belton 53-32 to take control of district 8-6A. He had three touchdown runs (44, 35, 52) and also was 17-28 passing for 199-yards.

Next Week: Midway (8-0) has the week off.

The Skinny: IMG and Pledger made a long trip West to Salt Lake City East and dominated 43-19. Pledger had a solid night that included a 7-yard touchdown run.

Next Week: IMG (6-0) has the week off.

The Skinny: There is no hotter player on Oklahoma's commitment list than Rattler who took home last week's MVP and followed it up with a four touchdown (9, 34, 37, 12) performance as Pinnacle crushed Mountain Ridge 59-0.

Next Week: Pinnacle (7-3) is hosting Horizon.

The Skinny: In a top five matchup Redmond helped an absolutely dominant Bomber defense shut down Putnam City to the tune of just 81-yards in the first half. In the end Midwest City had a 32-14 win and Redmond had three tackles for loss, multiple tackles, and offensively a 46-yard career catch and run touchdown.

Week 8 MVP

Next Week: Midwest City (7-1) is hosting Enid.

The Skinny: Robinson and All Saints just keep rolling toward the playoffs with a 49-37 win over Houston St. Pius X. Robinson had one carry for eight-yards and three receptions for 86-yards and two touchdowns (30, 56).

Next Week: All Saints (7-0) has the week off.

The Skinny: Simpson and Northwest put up 55-points, including nearly 300-yards rushing, but it wasn't enough as they were downed 70-55 by Boswell with the Pioneers scoring 38-first quarter points.

Next Week: Northwest (4-3) is hosting Saginaw Chisholm Trail.

The Skinny: In a 38-13 win over Ft. Worth Nolan Stogner had three catches for 33-yards and an 11-yard touchdown.

Next Week: Prestonwood (5-2) is traveling to Bishop Dunne.

The Skinny: The Pirates had a tough night with their offense struggling to find their feet and a defense that suffered from some big plays in a 32-14 loss to Midwest City. Tatum had several tackles as well as a five-yard sack.

Next Week: Putnam City (6-2) is traveling to Stillwater.

The Skinny: In a huge 34-7 win over Bolton, Taylor put up a pair of big touchdowns for Ridgeway with a 68-yard touchdown catch and then on defense made 'the play of the night' when he intercepted the ball and returned it for a 90-yard touchdown return.daytno

The Skinny: Thomas and Dunbar got a lopsided win, 40-6, over Gamble Montessori. Thomas had at least one big catch and run to get things going for Dunbar.

Next Week: Dunbar (6-3) is hosting Thurgood Marshall on Sat., Oct. 28.

The Skinny: Against a run-heavy Hitchcock team Turner-Yell had to come up and play run, to the tune of five tackles. Offensively he had a 37-yard run but Hempstead fell 32-6.

Next Week: Hempstead (2-4) is traveling to Anahuac.

The Skinny: Westmoore overwhelmed a young Edmond Santa Fe squad 64-21 thanks to yet another huge offensive performance.

Next Week: Westmoore (7-1) is hosting Jenks.
