Sooners (Not) Going to Miami?

Is Bandy's decision to decommit a surprise? (Rivals.com)

Last night long-time Oklahoma commitment Trajan Bandy announced that he would be decommitting from the Sooners amidst 'the pressures of the recruiting process'. The 5-foot-10, 178-pound Rivals250 prospect had been in frequent contact with hometown Miami but also went on to note several new schools that are starting to make an impression in his recruitment.

The recruiting world never stops spinning so after having less than 12 hours to absorb the news the question becomes; were the Sooners prepared for this possibility and how will they handle Bandy, and cornerback recruiting in general going forward?

Were they prepared?

In short, yes.

To go on at some length, Oklahoma has continued to recruit numerous cornerbacks around the country including Kary Vincent, Jaylon Johnson, and long-time Texas commitment Kobe Boyce. The latter of which is tentatively scheduled to be in Norman for Oklahoma's July 29 barbecue event.

Johnson meanwhile is a Fresno product, an area where Oklahoma has truly dominated the recruiting scene over the last half decade signing players like Hatari Byrd and L.J. Moore, along with current Sooners Michiah Quick and Caleb Kelly.

Finally for Vincent the Sooners are still waiting for him to make a trip to Norman.

But as for one name to not forget? How about Jeffrey Okudah word is that the Sooners may see him as something of a cornerback target as well as the five-star safety that he has long been revered as?

Expect even more on this in this week's SoonerScoop on Friday, but the Daily Notes could be enough to tide you over.
